Daycare facility for Middelfart Municipality

The extension of the childcare centre consists of 11 prefabricated modules, forming a 408 m² institutional building plus 26 m² of connecting structure. The modules are assembled into two large, functional group rooms with associated cloakroom, toilets, and nap room. The building is designed with a focus on daylight, a healthy indoor climate, and easy access to both the arrival side and the outdoor play areas. Staff facilities are centrally located to support oversight and efficient operation.

The building’s design is developed with a focus on daylight and a healthy indoor climate, and the layout emphasises flexibility and functionality, including mobile walls in the group rooms, which make it possible to adapt the rooms to different activities and needs. Each group room has its own cloakroom and toilet facilities to create a sense of security for the children. The extension’s nap room is unheated and has large sliding doors that can be opened to naturally ventilate the room and provide easy access.

Externally, the building is clad in dark compact laminate and, in sections, Thermo pine. The roof is covered with two layers of roofing felt. The building is primarily ventilated via a central ventilation system and heated by hydronic underfloor heating connected to district heating.

The building is easily connected to the existing building via a glazed corridor, and it is installed on pad foundations, making it easier to relocate the building should the need arise.
